Volvo Penta
CAE Engineer – Powertrain Multi Body Dynamics
You are interested in Product Development in general and passionate in Simulation and Analysis. You will be part of a very experienced and high-performing simulation & analysis team working within many different CAE areas. Your role and key responsibility is to drive and develop the area of multi body dynamics (MBD). You develop new methods and processes, build engine- and powertrain-models, perform simulations, analyse and communicate results.
MBD simulations are crucial to understand the dynamic behaviour and loads from the powertrain (ICE or electric hybrid) in both marine and industrial application. Typical analyses are powertrain dynamics, crankshaft strength, bearing analyses and structural load extraction.
The main CAE tools to use are AVL EXCITE for multi body dynamic analyses, ANSA for pre-processing, ANSYS and ADINA for strength and dynamic response analyses. Knowledge in Python scripting is a merit.
You have excellent skills in analysis, great knowledge in mechanical engineering and powertrain experience. You enjoy working in a team and have ability to inspire colleagues around you. The CAE team at Volvo Penta recognize and encourage curiosity, flexibility, creativity and happiness. Your communication and networking skills are highly valued, as the job requires daily contact within and outside the organisation. We believe that you have both the competence and personality that will make a difference in our team and organisation.
The academic degree needed is M.Sc. or Ph.D. within the field of mechanical engineering or similar. You have experience in MBD simulations. Skills in AVL EXCITE is highly meritorious and knowledge in the other CAE tools mentioned above is desirable. Your CV should contain listed qualifications in academic degrees and work experience. Fluent communication in English.
The CAE department at Volvo Penta consists of 14 skilled engineers working within all CAE areas (MBD, FEA, CFD, TVC, 1-D performance and Vehicle simulations). The advantage sitting together in one CAE team is obvious with respect to communication, collaboration and CAE synergies. We continuously develop and improve our methods and way of working. We use modern commercial CAE software’s and powerful hardware to meet the high set demands.
